An exceedingly rare ancient Japanese Heian (794-1185) or Nara Period (710-794) Engraved Bronze Tortoise. The entire shell, front and back, has engraved artistic images of the people and symbols of the era. The tortoise is a symbol of wisdom, and is able to defend itself on its own. It personifies Water, Moon, Mother Earth, Time, Immortality, and Fertility. Creation is associated with the tortoise and it is also believed that the tortoise bears the burden of the whole world...

This is a very fine and highly decorated cloisonne vase from Ota. I has 6 different panels and loads of detail and colorful scroll work. The hardwood (Rosewood or Mahogany) stand is old an is included with the vase. The vase stands 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

This is an exceptional Japanese Satsuma cabinet Vase. The intense work is reminiscent to that of Yabu Meizan, Meizan or even Seikozan. The decorations are very rich and intricate . This is a fine cloisonne enamel vase from the Meiji Period. Though more simplistic than many of his pieces, We believe this was vase made by Hayashi. I There are plenty of image and viewer can make up their own mind. The birds are well done and each is designed with gold wires. The difficult scroll under the top rim is also similar to Hayashi's work. The vase stands 6 inches tall and condition is excellent.

This is a very fine and rare Japanese cloisonne box. The piece could have been made by Kumeno because of the style and quality. This box has been masterfully repaired on the bottom underside to chips in the dark blue enamel. The repair look great with no silver wire work and none of the flowers affected. The box has also not been sprayed. It has gilded bronze rims and this has worn. The box measures 4 3/4 by 4 1/4 and is 2 1/4 inches tall.

This is a rare and very fine Japanese cloisonne jar covered with tiny butterflies. These butterflies are so small that probably 8 could fit on a little fingernail. It was likely created by Kumeno Teitaro. It stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is 3 5/8 inches wide. Condition is excellent.

This is a very attractive and richly decorated Japanese cloisonne vase. At fist glance one would think it was made by Namikawa Yasuyuki because of the mottled colors and glow to the enamel. There are both silver and gold wires used in the designs. It is not signed but it is so similar to a Namikawa piece that we believe it was made by Shibata, his student. It stands 6 inches tall and is quite heavy because of the thick enamel. The vase may have had a lid at one time but I can't say for certain...

This is a very fine small Japanese cloisonne vase done in the style of early Namikawa cloisonne pieces. This vase like Namikawa works has butterflies, high sheen mottled enamels and gilt wires. Even so we believe it was probably made by Honda. This heavy piece stands 4 3/4 inches and the condition is nearly mint.

This is a highly detailed Japanese Satsuma vase from the great Meiji artist Shizan. Look close at the images because the fine detail is as good as most of the finer pieces and easily looked over. The vase stands 4 3/4 inches tall. The vase is in excellent condition. Price is firm.

This is a very rare and wonderful Japanese Cloisonne box. There are a wide variety of enamel colors and designs making this a very unique piece. The designs, mottled and translucent enamel colors strongly suggest that Honda is the artist. The rims are also Bronze and appear to have never been silver plated. Condition is excellent. There is minor scuffing to the bottom corners. The box measures 5 1/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches and is 2 1/4 tall

The seven gods of fortune are depicted in rich gold, vibrant colors and textures on this exceptional set of Kutani Sake Cups from the Kaburagi Studio enclosed in the original compartmentalized wooden box. Each cup is unique, measuring roughly 5.5 cm (2 inches) diameter, 3 cm (1 inch) tall and all are in excellent condition. The Kaburagi studio produced some of the finest wares in Kutani.
