Antique Japanese painting of a Goju-no-to, five storied pagoda of the typical Japanese Buddhist temple. The pagoda is decorated using Kanji with a repeated sutra and other passages. Horin, the nine rings atop the pagoda are each a symbol. It measures 21.25" by 10.13". Some signs of age. Painted in sumi ink on paper. Meiji period 1868-1912.

A heavy porcelain jardinere or plant holder very finely painted with flowering peony and other shrubs in shades of underglaze blue and standing on three Chinese Ming Dynasty style Lion head feet. This item was made in Japan during either the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 21cm (8.25 inches) high; 31cm (12.25 inches) diameter.

Lovely hand painted Japanese Kutani tea caddy with inner lid. The jar features birds in flight, a slight crackle finish, gold accents, and is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no repairs. It is signed on the bottom. The tea caddy measures about 5.75 Inches (14.6 cm)tall. Circa 1900.

Antique Japanese Maneki-neko, Meiji 1868-1912. The Maneki-neko is a beckoning cat often seen at the entrance of a shop or other business and thought to be auspicious. Hand formed with Ceramic in good overall condition. It measures 11" wide at base 16" tall.

Antique Japanese hanging scroll of monkeys in stone snow lanterns in a forest of pine trees. A mother forages for food while her infant feeds. In the lower lantern a monkey gazes over the snow the second has captured an insect. It measures overall: 21" by 80" image: 15.5" by 44.75". Meiji period 1868-1912.

Antique Japanese hanging scroll of a tagasago married couple playfully playing with a rake by the swirling seaside. Full of Charm piece with great movement and wonderful detail. Meiji 1868-1912. It measures overall 35" by 53" image: 31" by 27".

Antique Japanese copper hanging lamp, Meiji period, 1868-1912. This is a beautiful lantern with panels decorated with peonies in a field of arabesques. Three smaller hanging blossoms hang off the top of the lantern. The lantern has two doors that open and are fastened shut with a decorated arm. The lower register is decorated with panels incised with a repeating wave design. The feet of the lantern are petal or leaf shaped, decorated with an incised arabesque design...

Unusual natural Antique Japanese burlwood container. Great for storing small items. Original condition and warm finish. Meiji period 1868-1912. It measures 14" wide 10" deep 6" tall.

Rough and heavy Hagi Chawan, over 100 years old (Meiji Period), with an expressive crackle glaze.

Aesthetic inborn kiln cracks make this chawan so special. No damages or repairs.

The signature chip located on the bottom (unknown potter to me) is a local tradition from the Edo period when potters would deliberately disfigure their wares in order to sell them to merchants instead of presenting them as gifts to the Môri clan...

This is a beautiful Japanese cloisonne vase. Though not signed, the workmanship and colors clearly speaks Hayashi Kodenji made this. This same opinion is held by North America's leading cloisonne collector. The vase stands 7 1/4 inches tall. It appears perfect but there is a virtually invisible repair to the midnight blue enamel edge shown in the last image.

Antique Japanese beige ceramic crackleware satsuma pilgrim vase, Meiji period 1868-1912. It is beautifully painted with two different scenes. The front and reverse are painted with a wheat plant in a field of chrysanthemums. The sides have cherry blossoms blooming in a stylized wave pattern. The mouth of the vase is square shaped, the base is rectangular. It measures 10" tall, 7.25" widest 2" deep.

Original Antique Japanese Isho tansu with locking bar over three drawers. One large bottom drawer with chrysanthemum Iron lock. Locking safe compartment with two small interior drawers and one secret compartment hidden away! Original opaque black lacquer finish on front, sides and top are a deep red translucent lacquer finish, iron hardware with scrolling design and mon on locking bar. From the Sakata area in Japan (known for its Lacquer work). Early Meiji Period (Circa 1870's)...

Antique Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) with two large drawers. Made all of sugi (crytomeria) wood with deep reddish brown lacquer finish on the drawer panels and black lacquer top, sides and front frame. Iron work includes two elaborate lock plates, raised seed pods in corners, and moko shaped drawer pulls. From northern Japan, possibly Nigata area. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 18 1/2" high x 32 1/4" wide x 15 1/2" deep.

Antique Japanese pair of bronze three section lanterns. Tall finials in flame shapes adorn temple style lids and small bronze bells hanging from the edges. Would have originally been used with well light candles, the pair is perfectly matched. The caged midsection has reticulated spiral design walls, which stands on large bell shaped feet. Nice patina due to natural oxidation. Mid to Late Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 36" H x 14" W

Antique Japanese zenibako also know as a money safe box. Original deep lacquer finish, hinged lid with Iron handle and money slot beside it. Money was dropped inside and is retrieved by opening the drawer directly below it. Two other drawers free of locks may be used for storage as well. Solid Keyaki (hardwood) with stunning wood grain. Eco Period (circa 1820's) Size: 8.5" H x 12.5" L x 8.5" W

This is Kyogen Hakama which the child of the rich civilian of Kyoto used for the Meiji period. This has the crest that Kyogen is characteristic of the part of the waist. As for this, the whole is dyed with an indigo plant by Katazome. This has several places of thin dirts. And this has several places of extremely small holes. As for this, cotton is thin. Kyogen Hakama of the child is very rare. Size 85cm x 56cm (33.4 "x 22")

A lovely Japanese Kutani porcelain tea caddy with bird and floral motif accented with gold gilt on a pink ground. Measures 4.5 inches high and about 3.75" diameter.

Antique Japanese large pulley carved of beautiful hardwood on custom Iron Stand. Two wooden wheels on the inside are built to support a rope. The hardware is made of iron and includes a large swiveling hook. A wonderful example of utilitarian Mingei elevated to sculpture. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912).
