An intriguing bijin image with an unusual title.

Charming set of 5 small porcelain Kutani ware plates, two with black and gold rims and scenes of birds and flowers, three with black, gold and orange rims have scenes of noble man and attendant sitting by waterfall, mark of backs, circa 1930's. Size: 5" high x 3 1/4" wide.

Pair Japanese porcelain vases decorated in various shades of blue under glaze to show a view of Mount Fuji. On the bottom of both vases is the Fukagawa factory mark, and the vases dates to the early 20th Century. Each vase measures 10" high x 7 1/2" in diameter. This later, stoutly potted porcelain hexagonal Ao-Kutani censer may be Meiji or as late as Taisho era. But the six biscuit panels with relief depictions of sages are noteworthy each with an associated animal from Chinese lore. Green yellow and red enameled decoration of blossoms and clouds. The cover with Shishi also in blue and aubergine (cover only fits one way.) Rims with chocolate brown glaze. All raised on six shaped feet. The bottom also unglazed biscuit...

This is an attractive cloisonne vase from Ando. The enamel work and shading are finely done. The form and colors are rare. The vase stands 6 inches tall. There is a bit of hard to see crazing. This can be seen in the images and actually shows up more in the image than in person. It was made with silver rims and was probably made in the 1930's. This is a very nice display piece.

A pair of small pottery spill vases, Japan, unmarked, probably Kyoto, 1920’s. Bottle shaped, decorated with hand painted flowers and borders in olive green and black, pink, brown and blue against a cream-coloured background. Height "5/ 12,5 cm. Condition: firing crack to the foot rimof one vase, otherwise fine (cf pictures).

A decorative black lacquer box by the Ryukyu Lacquer Ware Company, c 1920. The inside red, the knobbed lid with a carved lacquer banana plant - flowers, fruit and leaves - in colours. Stamped company mark. Diameter "3¾/ 9,7 cm. Condition: small nick to the rim of box and lid (cf. picture).

1930's Japanese Satsuma Earthenware Feet Box with Millefleur & Karako Signed Kawaguri 川栗

It is 3.8 inches (8.9 cm) tall by 3.6 inches (9.2 cm) wide. It is 0.9 Lb.

It has stains, rubbing of gold and paint, small and flea bite chips at the rims of the lid and bottom, and surface wears (as seen in the photos).

A sprawl of chrysanthemum are delicately painted growing beneath the elegant curves of a Kanshi poem on this fine silk scroll by Kamisaka Sekka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Pigment and ink on silk with silk border and black lacquered rollers. The scroll measures 11-1/2 x 73-1/2 inches (30 x 186 cm) and in fine condition. An unusual and interesting polychrome enameled studio porcelain mug signed by the Japanese artist - Fukako Sei. Decoration borrows from traditional Nabeshima and Kakiemon iro-e examples with blue underglaze partial decoration filled in with red, yellow-green, turquoise and magenta enamel depicting prunus and peonies (Spring flora.) The mug with a slight taper toward the rim and a loop handle. I am, being both a coffee drinker and a ceramics collector, tempted to keep this...

Japanese bamboo hanging flower container with inscription and signature on the back. The title of the piece is, TATEDORI or "rain gutter" and is signed by a person named, Souyo. The title invokes the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi along with the natural patterns seen on the bamboo surface. Age: 20th century. Size: Height: 16.5" Width: 2.75" Length: 3"
