Very rare Momoyama period (1568-1600) Ko Karatsu sake cup formerly in the collection of Fujio Koyama (1900-1975).
Shallow body with uneven rim typical for Momoyama period. There are skillfully made gold kintsugi repairs over the edge. The old wooden custom-made Magewappa box has a label which says that the cup was in the collection of Fujio Koyama and dated as Momoyama period. Koyama Fujio was a scholar of Japanese pottery and a potter as well... Momoyama Period (1568-1600) Ko Karatsu ware chawan with old kintsugi repair.
With nicely thrown body with uneven rim which is typical for Momoyama period. Karatsu ware is one of most desired pottery type in Japan based in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture since 15th century. Size Width 11cm Height 6cm Condition There are cracks and repairs due to age. Supplied with old wooden box.

A fabulous 17th century Koro (Momoyama to early Edo period) covered in black lacquer inlayed with minute mother of pearl shippo designs around circular windows featuring floral motifs. The lid is solid silver, pierced with overlapping floral designs. The windows feature grape, plum, bamboo and other seasonal imagery important in Asian cultures. It is 11 cm diameter and in overall excellent condition considering the age.

$3,000.00 Antique Chinese celadon bowl. The rim is flared and accented with incised concentric rings which repeat several times closer to the center of the bowl. The widest band and the reserve at the bottom of the bowl are incised with subtle designs possibly floral. The outside of the bowl is thickly glazed with lovely drips and overall crackle. The foot has been left unglazed.

Measurement was taking from existing part This is genuine Japanese Shoki Imari Excavated Chawan (Bowl). It is dated from early Shoki Imari which dated back to 1630-50 maybe little earlier. Shoki Imari did not have the process of making porcelain with bisque, glazed then design painted. Porcelain making process skipped bisque and glaze making, rather they put right into glazing and painting design done in same time. Glaz... Suna-Gohon (sand is added to the clay) tea ware was fired at the Japanese consular office in Busan in the early Edo period (1603-1868) and sent to the Tokugawa family and other daimyo. The kiln was closed in 1718. Size Diameter 13.3cm Height 8cm In good antique condition. There are minor cracks, old gold lacquer and foot repairs. Supplied with modern wooden box. Excellent light tea bowl fired in the Busan kiln which was run by the Tsushima feudal clan in the middle of the Joseon era (17c).
