This is japanese antique kihada nature colour katazome sodenashi hanjyuban in Edo period(1603-1867). Katazome of kihada ground is very rare. Textile seems to be hand spun and woven and and has soft touch . The collar is yuzen and shibori of silk. There is neither stain nor damage. Japanese silk fukusa with yuzen technique and sumi-e hand painting. The shimmering effect of the water was achieved by the delicate use of silver surihaku. Red embroidery on the crane’s head and some white embroidery on tail feathers highlight those features. On the reverse is red rinzu silk with a large peony motif. All four original tassels are still intact. There is a break in the boarder thread in the upper left corner (see last photo) but could be repaired...

This was made for Edo period. And it is Katazome where a natural indigo plant, black, gray, rouge were used for. This is the Shipo- filler of the Amaryu- dragon and a deep red pattern of the lozenges. As for this, cotton is spun by hand and is slightly thick. Japanese wood and lacquer cloisonne document box. The ground features a carved lacquered tree bark design. Applied cloisonne flowers with a butterfly were achieved by using gold tone metal wires which were filled with colored lacquer and then hand polished.
