A gorgeous Japanese brazier with excellent high quality enamel work, this treasure is contrasted in color from the dark silvered with areas of gold lid and the bronzed tone copper base, making it a visual treat. Dated to the late 19th century this can still used for fragrant dried flowers on a desk top or table. It measures 6.5" diameter x 5.5" high.

An Edo period Oribe sake bottle of simple but full proportions and with classically Japanese Zen decoration - austerely yet sensitively placed grass and blooms decoration in iron oxide on the softly crackled opaque off-white glaze ever so slightly scorched in the kiln on two sides where the body is almost slightly exposed and oxidized to a buff tone at those points. The cut foot also glazed save for a crescent reserve around the center where the warm gray body is exposed...

The image depicts a green goddess (perhaps Green Tara, the Goddess of Compassion) in tantric embrace with a white Ganesha, the Hindu Remover of Obstacles.
