solded Buddha in very heavy cast bronze. Never been gilded. Very nice natural brown patina. Very well known model of the Kien-long period, which usually are gilded and marked with the reign and sometimes dated and which are always in embossed copper (see an example in my collection n°10). The one presented here is in cast bronze.
Good condition, some minor wear and shocks, no restoration.
Height: 17,6cm Weight: 1490g

solded Cast bronze censer gilded with mercury. Decor of Greek friezes and incised precious objects. The gilding is largely worn, we still see some in the places most protected from wear and tear. It is thick and of good quality, it is a hot-pasted mercury gilding technique. The handles are attached to the body they were cast with it, they are not added, riveted or welded, they represent dragon heads. On the base foot we can see a vertical dark trace of solding that is probably an old restauration...

$2,800.00 Thick cast bronze censer depicting a goose spreading its wings. I believe it is cast in two parts separately, the goose and the vessel then brazed together. Interesting subject, very nice finish and chasing. Old patina. No gilding, no restoration.
Width the largest 14,5cm.

solded Cast bronze incense burner. Simple, tripod shape, with cut-out rather than welded handles. Despite its simplicity, this censer is of a good quality finish, in fact you can see on some photos the traces of the passage of the scraper tool which makes a perfectly smooth surface. Below cast in the mass the mark of Xuande. Although bearing this mark of the 15th century, this type of bronze is from the Qing period...

solded Small cast bronze incense burner in the shape of a duck. The bird is lying on its folded legs and gracefully twists its neck to groom its plumage. There has never been a lid because the opening on its back is clean without grooves and without any trace of friction or wear. The carving is of good quality, the eyes and nostrils are particularly well executed. Chinese work from the 18th century or much earlier.
Below, between the legs, the bronze cracked and was repaired with tin solder...

$1,800.00 An amusing and very rare lantern in cast bronze, decorated in light relief with stylized cicada in the archaic style. The rear part cut out by crosses the front part open for the use of candles or oil lamp. The cast iron is of good quality and the finish is neat. The patina is very beautiful and guarantees the age of the object. I think it's a Chinese work but I have a doubt, it could be Japanese. If it's Japanese it is much rarer although less fashionable than Chinese...

solded Small tripod miniature incense burner of simple form in cast bronze. The two handles are unusually very thin. Below we can see the 6 characters of the reign of Xuande of the Ming Dynasty. The bronze is old, the beautiful patina attests to it. However, it is difficult to date it exactly. Usually the bronzes bearing the mark of Xuande are from the 17th century. A wooden base and lid were added later, probably in the 19th century...

$900.00 Cast bronze tripod, representing three dragon heads that hold their feet in their mouths. In the center a small container. It could be a censer. Maybe a candlestick. The style of the dragons with these long ears and the unicorn seem to us from the Yuan period or the beginning of the Ming. The excellent multi-centenary old patina would confirm such an ancient time. I don't think anything is missing in the center, because there are no signs of wear.
Good condition.Large:21cm

$1,600.00
The vase is cast in one piece. Inspired by archaic Chinese bronze ritual vessels, it bears a Taotie mask decoration. This decoration is reduced to two narrow bands instead of occupying more space as usually on the bronzes of the Ming period, this more austere character, the slender shape and the patina with a much more antique aspect allows us to think so. older, probably from the Song period or earlier.
The base split on one side as shown in the photos...

$2,300.00 Small cast bronze vase. Creature mask decoration in relief, probably a tiger. The metal is very thick and this small vase is very heavy. Although very simple, it is venerable and powerful. It is very old for several centuries. The patina of the bronze is sublime. Certainly a Chinese work. I don't think it's from the Ming period, the drawing is too simple. It could be Song or before... Only a specialist could determine a precise dating...

$1,200.00 Cast pewter dropper in the shape of a doe. The animal is lying down, it is hollow and its mouth is pierced with a hole letting the water flow drop by drop. A leg is broken but is easily repairable, we can do this free of charge on request. The pewter seems covered in places with a thin layer of lacquer, or is it an old deposit of smoke, dust and oxides due to age. Probably Chinese work, of undetermined period with precision, but most certainly old. Qing period. A bit worn, normally for an old pe...

$2,200.00
The urn is made of very hard porcelain stoneware, the body and lid were turned. 5 cases were glued to the slip on the shoulder, as they are deeply hollow, without however crossing their support, I think that they must have served as a receptacle for incense sticks, a decoration of petals and stylized flowers is vigorously incised before firing, then covered with a cracked celadon glaze. Chinese work from the Song dynasty around the 11th-12th century. A chip in the setting, 3 of the five cases ...
