Antique Chinese calligraphy brush from the 19th century. The handle is made of bone, highly polished, with an incised inscription. A fine red ribbon is the hanger. The bristles are white horse hair. It measures 9.5" long.

A simple one line Chinese calligraphy attributing to Chi Xizhao (1793-1866). The calligraphy reads: The pure jade harmonizing with the gold with the pure wind in the forest of treasure. The work is dated to year of the water boar (approximately 1863), mid spring. Chi Xizhao was a noted Qing Period poet. Chi Xizhao was a scholar of the xueshi rank during the Jiaqing period. This scroll originally was one of a pair.

There are at least 5/6 individual style of chinese calligraphy on a fan, late Qing or republic era, by a few calligraphers unknown to me as i am not expert in Chinese calligraphy and i can't read the chinese words. To me it's nice as deco for wall as it has aged by time.

A Chinese signed calligraphy poem on paper from the Republic period. This scroll is from the collection of the Hollywood actor James Coburn. The poem was written during the New Year of 1917. It expresses the budding of spring, possibly in relation to Sun Yat Sen, alluding to the beginning of the Republic of China. There are two red seals on the scroll. The image measures: 23.5" wide by 50" long.

DESCRIPTION: An attractive scholar's calligraphy brush, crafted using long brown horsehair bristles attached to a bulbous ox-horn ferrule and segmented, solid ox- horn shaft. A very handsome brush in good condition from the latter Qing Dynasty, which would have been used for calligraphy or painting. DIMENSIONS: 14” long (35.5 cm).

Antique Chinese calligraphy on paper, unmounted, signed Xiu Yang Raoren. The characters tell an auspicious poem expressing the flow of water to represent the spread and expansion of a family with offspring and more children filling their home. Size: 52" length, 24" width

A sublime calligraphy scroll having a Chinese attribution. The rough and swift strokes of the calligraphy can be seen as if movement is caught frozen in time. The calligraphy reads as an auspicious poem where the poet is using the flow of water in relation to the spread and development of the family with generation after generation of children.
