Wooden ema (votive plaque) depicting a husband and wife praying for the blessing of a child. Japan, early 20th century. Approx. 22.7 × 31 × 1 cm (8.9 × 12.2 × 0.4 in). Inscribed with the name of the supplicant, “Yokota Saki.” The upper roof-like section is slightly loose due to a detached nail, and the painted surface shows areas of wear, as shown.

Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Glazed Pottery Jar

This attractive pottery jar was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery that has been coated with a finely-crackled amber coloured glaze with green streaks. The glaze has run during firing with glaze drips to the flat base. There are a couple of minor kiln scars within the glaze, something that is often seen on similar jars of this period.
