Japanese Meiji period Kyoto Satsuma baluster form vase or jar with upright neck decorated around the circumference in polychrome enamels with six samurai set against a faintly crackled cream-colored background. On the side of the jar at the midsection is a red hand scripted “Yasuda zo” mark. The mark likely refers to Yasuda Gensei (d. 1932) who founded the Yasuda Ceramic Company in Kyoto in 1896.
