Seated Amida Buddha, the hands placed centrally on the lap in the Amida jo-in concentration mudra, sculpted in shallow relief from a light-brown igneous stone showing rust-brown patination above the line of soil insertion. Late-Muromachi/Momoyama Period ca. 1550. Very minor old loss.

This is fire fighter Muneate which a local rich merchant used for Edo period. This is made with cotton spun by hand. As for this, polychromatic Tsutsugaki is impressive. This has some stains on a part of the white. As for this, lining is hemp. It has some damage. Size 55cm x 28cm (21.6 "x 11")

Antique Japanese noh theatre mask of the character Ko-Omote, a youthful girl. Very unusual that this mask is made of ceramic instead of carved from wood. Beautifully painted with red lips and blackened teeth, joyful eyes and dark hair with four loose strands, very important defining characteristics to tell each mask apart. Distorted half cylinder shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl with slightly flaring mouth made of light, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potters knife. With the exception of the foot ring the bowl is covered with a clear (wood ash and feldspar) glaze inside and out.
