$675.00 Rare and endearing figure of a young boy disciple of Quanyin (the Goddess of Compassion) wearing a garment etched with a lotus flower - the symbol of Buddhism. He is often depicted near Quanyin with his hands in reverential prayer. The bronze is heavily cast and has wires imbedded underneath the pedestal, perhaps for attaching to a group of figures. (see photo)
Period: Song (11th-13th C) Size: Height: 19.5 cm (7-5/8 inches) Condition: No repairs. Has a nice patina.

The vase has an angular form with concave neck and foot, with different sets of characters on its front and back in relief.

$1,685.00 A very rare nicely moulded vase with a long ribbed neck that flares to a hexafoil rim. The hexagonal body is moulded with bands of flowers. The lower band has alternating patterns of lotus flowers and lotus leaves. There are two lion masks at opposite sides at the shoulder. The vase is covered in a light olive-grey glaze.
Period: Yuan - 13th/14th Century
Size: Height = 14.4 cm (5-11/16 inches)
Condition: Tiny barely noticeable chip at the rim of the mouth otherwise perfect.

The domed cover has a concave top, which is mould-impressed with small chrysanthemum flowers. Both the exterior and interior of the box and cover are coated in a thin, translucent bluish-white glaze, leaving the rims and base unglazed, exposing the sugary white body, which has some brown and black firing marks. SOLD Japanese zenibako (money safe box) made with Keyaki (zelkova) burl wood in original red lacquer finish. The zenibako is fitted with brass hardware including side handles in a mokko (melon) motif. The hinged lid has a large front lock plate with matching key, and a calligraphy inscription on the underside. The interior of the zenibako holds two open compartments.
