An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware with a Paulownia family crest front lock plate. Two hinged doors open to an array of 8 small drawers each used organize the previous owner's collection of smalls. The iron stand (a recent addition) was used to raise this chest off of the floor to make it into the perfect side table.

An antique Japanese Yamagata Tansu made of Kurinoki (Chestnut) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original hand forged iron hardware including the Hikute handles and the Urushi lacquer finish. Lock plates feature the family crest of the Paulownia. Four large drawers and one small drawer to the exterior. The hinged security door hides 2 small drawers where valuables were kept. A Very Fine Korean Bird and Flower Scroll Painting-19th C.: Korea, late 19th century. Painted with a couple of Pheasant, maple, peony and sun with rocks, Painted in bright colors on paper and scrolled later. It’s in good condition but slight fainted in colors, it measures 43.75" x 19"painting only, or 67.5" x 23.75" overall

Antique Japanese fine lacquered kogo box for holding incense. Comprised of 3 stacking compartments, the lower of which has a gilt copper lining. The overall shape is that of a textile knot (musubi) with ornate patterns in gold takamaki-e on black and nashiji lacquer. The sides of the box are further decorated with a landscape of trees on a rocky outcropping, a village of thatched roof huts, and low hills near a lake, all on a fine nashiji ground. With signed kiri wood tomobako.

A Finely Decorated Imari Dish. The centre with a basket of flowers on a floral ground. The base with a four character Fuki Chosun mark 'Riches, Honours and Everlasting Youth'. Japan 19thC. Diameter; 31.3 cm. Condition: slight wear to gilding.

JAPANESE DOLL WITH WIGS

Old 'Katsura ningyo' (lit. 'Wig doll') carrying a baby on back, originally made for the noble girl's play in the Edo period, as the original form of today's dress-up doll. Meiji period (1868-1912). Box: approx. 16.7 x 10.8 x 3.7cm (6.57 x 4.25 x 1.45in). Some expected damage around due to aging as is, but comparatively in good condition for this type of aged doll. Jerry-built box so that easily breakable.

This is tsutsugaki Thick hemp indigo dye katazome horse Cover textile at the Meiji era(1868-1912). The left and right indigo dyes are cotton. There is a fading part, but there is no damage.Recommended for charming wall decorations. Size: Length 110cm (44.3inch) / Width 87cm (34.2inch)
