Zentner Collection
SOLD Antique Japanese copper censer with handles. The pierced copper lid has a repousse design of a dragon in swirling storm clouds with lightening. The body of the censer is hammered copper and has two warabite shaped handles on either side.
Age: Meiji Period (1868-1912) Dimensions: 7" high x 11" wide (including handles) Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "A Glimpse of Ueno Park" by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) dated Showa 12 (1937). First edition impression with "jizure" (self-printed) seal in the upper left margin. The artist's black ink brush signature and red seal is at the lower right with the pencil-signature in the margin below it. Illustrated in "The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi," Abe Publications, color plate #218. Paper measures 16 1/8" x 11" (image size: 14 3/4" x 9 3/4")...

Sold, Thank you. Yuki-boshi (snow hat) or yuki-kabuto (snow helmet) made of palm tree fiber and vegetable indigo dye cotton inside. It has washi painted with Paulownia oil for waterproof, between outside and cotton indigo lining. It is from Shonai region in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku district. It is said it was worn by "matagi", a hunter. The second half of the 19th century. In good condition with belts inside are left, which is rather rare. 40cm x 57cm

Inquire for Price Wooden figure of a lion, companion to Fugen bosatsu. On his back he carries a lotus base, on which Fugen used to sit (figure missing). The lion stands on high and slightly stiff legs, each foot positioned on a small lotus base.
The figure has been carved out of several blocks of wood that were subsequently assembled into the final figure. This technique is called yosegi saiku and was widely used for complex sculptures like these. The tail is stuck into the back, remaining loose...
