Carp in a Pond Date: ca. 1910. Size: Approximately 8.75 x 6.125 inches. Artist's signature and seal at upper right. Publisher: Matsumoto (No. 387). Tag on back. Condition: Bottom margin discolored. A couple of very faint foxing marks in image. Note: Very rare. We could find no other example of this design. Old Japanese clay doll, a lovely standing girl with a flower bouquet, 14" tall from early 1900s. This doll is signed and dated (the date that sold or given to) at the bottom, March of the third year.
This type of clay dolls are somehow all originated from the Fushimi clay doll of the Kyoto area. Fushimi dolls were originally sold as souvenirs to the pilgrims on the road of Fushimi Kaidou from Kyoto to Fushimi Inari Shrine in the early Edo period (1600-1868)...

$680.00 This is a Jinbaori (sleeveless campaign jacket worn over armor) made with kuzu cloth used by the precious natural cloth of the Edo period, the top of the samurai.
The family crest is hidari - hitotsu - myoga no marumon.
It is an item of the original Edo period.
There are thin dirt and slight damage.
I think that the weft is kuzu cloth and the warp is hemp or Kuzuu.
Because it was used in the Edo period, it seems that silver foil was applied on the Japanese paper around the sleeve, but...

Sold. Thank you. Cotton Kurume kasuri futonji with a castle motif. Kurume in Fukuoka Pref. in Kyushu has been one of the main product places of indigo dyed cotton kasuri since late Edo period (early 19th century). It is made of hand-spun cotton that means probably it was made before Meiji 15 (1882) and vegetable indigo dyed. In excellent condition except for minor brown stains only in the back. Golden bamboo spreads its leaf laden branches about the rim of this aka-e Kinsai bowl by Kyoto potter Takahashi Seizan and decorated by the famous painter Hashimoto Kansetsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 6-1/2 inches (17 cm) square and in excellent condition. This is from the personal collection of painter Konoshima Keika (1892-1974). We will be offering more from his household in the near future...

It is a very nice cotton hand spun with warm hands.
It is drawn with Tsutsugaki and with natural indigo dye.
There are slight stains, but they are not noticeable. There is a slight rubbing mark.
The state can be worn well.
