Mid-18th Century, Japanese Mixed Materials Three-case Inro, Kyoto ware Ojime, and Manju Netsuke This is Mid-18th Century, wonderfully carved Three-case Lacquered Inro inlaid with Porcelain. The inro is contained within a dark brown frame. The porcelain is inlaid in a Mokume bacground, and it depicts the figure of Lao-Tze on the front, and a couple of sages on the back. The white and brown Kyoto ware ojime depicts Daikoku, and is impressed with the seal of Eiraku Tokusen...

Boxwood netsuke depicting a character sitting on the shell of a giant hamaguri (Meretrix lusoria – oriental clam). The representation alludes to a man involved in an erotic relationship from which he desperately tries to get out, as his shell symbolizes the vulva. A simple two compartment Japanese inro. Constructed of box wood with an even stippled finish. Original black and gold lacquer finish, threaded with cotton cord and finished of with a well worn carved toggle in a floral shape.

Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Makie Lacquer Inro with Agate Ojime & Manju with Turtle

It is 3.5 inches (9.8 cm) tall by 2.5 inches (6.3 cm) wide. Manju 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide. It is 96 gram.

It has small chips, peeling of lacquer, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos) .

Boxwood shunga netsuke with skillfully carved natural himotoshi depicting two mushrooms. A touch of genius is found in the depiction of the smallest mushroom, which is placed upside down above the larger one's head. From this small cavity emerges a delicate caterpillar carved from blond horn. Engraved signature Masatomo 正友. Period: Edo 19th century Dimensions: 2.4 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm. State of conservation: Excellent condition - There are natural openings in the wood.

Ivory netsuke of a group of three compactly intertwined monkeys, the smallest holding a longevity peach against him. Their eyes are inlaid horn. Their coats are carefully incised and their fingers are finely sculpted. Natural himotoshi through one of the legs.
Signature on the right flank of the largest monkey, in an unidentified rectangular reserve.
