An original Japanese double hinged quartered sawn keyaki hardwood tansu chest. The front lock does work (with key) to open and reveal a set of storage drawers made from kiri soft wood. Frame is lacquered with deep warm tones. Hand forged iron, all original condition.
The front is adorned with an impressive circular kanagu (ironwork) medallion, showcasing a family crest (mon) motif in high relief, surrounded by elegant forged iron strap hinges and corner fittings...
