A set of Five Sencha Tea Cups made like blossoms of pastel colored clay on gray buy Kusaba Yuji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Neriage Sai-ka-mon Senchawan zen. Each is roughly 9.3 cm (just less than 4 inches) diameter, 4.8 cm (2 inches ) tall and all are in excellent condition, directly from the artist.
Kusaba Yuji was born in Arita, the heartland of Japanese porcelain, in 1955, and graduated the prestigious Nihon Daigaku in 1979...

Sold A superior Arita Chawan decorated to the exterior with the Shochikubai, plum, pine and bamboo, in kinsai gilding. The interior painted with a dense Karakusa arabesque of auspicious Peony leaves. The foot-rim with stylised overlapping lotus leaves in underglaze blue. To the interior of the foot-ring a four character fukichosun mark. The condition is good, no damages or restoration. A kiln flaw to the foot-ring.
The bowl dates to the Kyoho era circa 1720-30.
It weighs 93 grams in weight...

sold, thank you A set of five sake cups, each engraved with a unique poem by the artist/nun Otagaki Rengetsu dating from her 83rd year enclosed in an antique Sarasa cloth pouch with silk pads between enclosed in an old wooden box. They are each 5 cm (2 inches) diameter and all are in excellent condition. The poems read:
1 Wakabae no yanagi no ito no mijikaku te furiwakegami no kokochi koso sure The newborn willow fronds are short and feel to me just like bobbed hair 2 Umazake no miwa no sugi z... Small flask or vase in the shape of a double gourd. Thin and fine, whitish stoneware covered in translucent glaze, decorated in overglaze, colored enamels and gold with a cord and tassels and maple leaves floating on a sinewy stream.
