Indian antique miniature painting of a Mughal prince. Dressed in rich clothing and jewels, the prince sits on the back of a white horse. A halo around the prince's head denotes his royal status. His horse wears a jeweled bridle. A quiver and arrows is attached to the saddle so one can assume the prince is starting out on a hunt.
Painting in gouache on paper, this was originally an album leaf. The page is framed so that the writing on the edges and back is visible...

Two rare silk brocades, partial fabrics, probably made in Varanasi, North India for the Thai market. The light blue one is a ceremonial waist or shoulder cloth (Pha yok), in brocaded silk with silver. The purple textile is brocaded in gold and silver, sewn together like a skirt. Condition: fragments, traces of age and use, tears, flaws, thin areas, partial wear. Dimensions: light blue: c. 82.5 x 190 cm , purple double: c. 64 x 66 cm.

The 800 silver marked bulbous vessel with repousse decoration of key fret border over scrolling vine pattern band over lotus pattern foot (marked 800 on the foot). The top with finial on lotus pattern cap, over an opewnork vine trellis band, over a chased scrolling vine pattern band, over a narrower key fret border. Lots of varied technique harmonizing to form the whole. 19th century. Must rotate the top a bit to find the optimal fit. Good condition...

This dish is quite exceptional; it is an English ceramic from Stoke-on-Trent, decorated with a lacquered palace scene in Persia at the end of the 19th century. There is no other known example of Qajar lacquer on European ceramic; the materials are not very compatible; lacquer cannot adhere properly to a ceramic surface lacking porosity. It is miraculous that 150 years after its creation, the lacquer is still present and in relatively good condition...
