Sold, Thank You Very Much Chinese Qing dynasty Guangxu period cylindrical form rouleau vase with a narrow columnar neck and cupped rim, decorated overall in gilt with cranes flying among stylized lucky clouds set against a powder blue ground. A band of lappets extends around the circumference of the base. The angled shoulder is encircled by a band of bats and scrolling foliage. Two underglaze blue concentric circles are on the white porcelain base. The vase stands 14 1/4” high and dates from the late 19th century...

Although there are earlier depictions of monkeys in Daoist texts, one more popular Ming Dynasty story from "The Journey to the West" tells of a monkey who steals a peach from the garden of the Jade Emperor. The monkey gains immortality from the peach but is banished to earth as his punishment...

Sale Pending A finely carved Chinese agate in the form of a popular motif often seen in Tibet which is the windhorse. The use of Tibetan motifs in Chinese arts began during the Ming dynasty with patronage of the Tibetan high lamas and continued onwards into the Qing Dynasty. The windhorse is carrying a pecha or sutra text, a signature motif often found on windhorses. The stylized ribbons and the waves are done in the Chinese style. The figure is delicately modeled in porcelain and finished with a clear glaze. The last two characters, of the the faint impressed seal on the back, read Yi Ren. Republic Period.

$2,500.00 Antique Chinese porcelain plate circa 1900's (Qing Dynasty). The plate is beautifully painted with a sage holding a sprig of bamboo riding a blue celadon. The Sage and fish are accompanied by a gold winged dog. There are three seals. The plate is bordered with three registers. It measures 11.75" wide by 9" tall. The base has four bats, one on each side. The edge of the plate has old fitters from age.
A Chinese silver shield-shaped presentation plaque engraved with good wishes, mounted to conforming hardwood shield carved at crest with stylized flower and with easel support on the back. Silver plaque with indistinct mark. Condition: good, minimally dented at the edges. Dimension: 27.8 cm x 20. 6 cm, weight: 716 g.
