Rare Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Buddhist Lotus Leaf Jar

This rare pottery jar, originally from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province, was made in the 12th/13th century, during the Dali Kingdom (AD 937 - 1253), corresponding to the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368)

It is made from dark grey pottery. The wall of the jar is decorated, simply although effectively, with four lotus leaf panels...

Two undone pair sleeve bands embroidered on yellow silk ground. One pair with butterflies among colorful flowers, roundels and auspicious symbols in satin stitch and little gold thread couching on yellow satin silk. The second pair in counted stitch on yellow silk gauze with few details in satin stitch, showing young ladies in a landscape. Condition: few traces of usage, one slightly soiled. Dimension: total: c. 112 x 50 cm and c. 108 x 37.5 cm.

Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Buddhist Pottery Zodiac Jar with Sanskrit Inscription

This interesting pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province. It is made from a fairly high-fired pale grey pottery.

Strips of clay have been applied to the outer wall to form six lotus leaf panels...

An extremely rare blue and white stem-bowl, decorated with lady with her attendant bring a light, the other one bring a fan in the full moon Palace garden, also house, banana tree, with a beautiful scenery among this stem-cup. Da Ming Xuan De Nien Zhe six character mark and of the period. Condition is excellent, no any chip, no any crack and free from any restoration. Diameter: 12 cm and Height: 10 cm.

A very good Baotou carpet of dark indigo ground and lighter tones of blue with different type of Buddhist pattern, outer border with swastika pattern, meander border in light blue and with various symbols and flowers in the centre. Republic of China (Inner Mongolia), around 100 years old. Size: L. 118 x 59 cm; 46,5 x 23,5 inch. Condition: Very fine, thick pile. A couple of stains. No holes, repairs or moth attacks. This small glazed terracotta statuette represents a court musician. She holds cymbals in her hands.
