Fine LARGE Chinese Han Dynasty Sichuan Pottery Figure - Female Cook

This truly exceptional pottery model was made during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220) and comes from Sichuan province. It is made from a grey pottery, the head made separately and detachable. It is a model of a kneeling female figure sitting in front of a chopping table on which there is a variety of foodstuffs: fish heads, fish and a duck. A unusually elaborate pottery figure of female Attendant, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1650 AD.

The lady wears a beautiful robe or coat, and her hair is styled nicely with a scarf - very impressive. She carries a purse in her hand, and is standing on a square plint. She is glazed in green and yellow Sancai colors.

Nicely painted facial details, careful thick glazing.

A unusually elaborate pottery figure of female Attendant, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1650 AD.

The lady wears a robe, covering her body form head to toe. She is carrying a wine jug an her shoulders, as if about to serve for her masters. Note the floral ornamentation on the hood of the robe. She is standing on a square plint, and is glazed in torqouise and dark blue colours.

A high Quality Chinese Tomb Pottery figure of a mounted militairy horseman, dating to the Ming Dynasty 1368-1644 AD.

Finely detailed warrior on horseback holding a spear in his left hand. Fully equipped with detailed armor in dark blue and torquoiseglazed colors. Other details in white, black and red pigment. A high quality figure from around the Middle Ming period, ca. 1500-1550 AD.

Lovely pair of embroidered quatrefoil round panels, circa first half of 20th century. The stitching is in excellent condition but some discoloration on the edges. Diameter 20cm/8in.

Stunning traditional scroll painting of a tiger descending mountain. Actual painting size is H: 105cm/41in x W: 40cm/15.5in - mounted dimensions are H: 190cm/74in x W: 50cm/19.5in. Signed Zhang Shanzi 張善孖 but this is probably apocryphal. He was famous for his painting of tigers- based on the quality of the scroll haning screws, this was probably done in the 50s or 60s...

Lovely late 19th century to early 20th century (over 100 years old), meditation panel carpet. These were usually woven like a runner with several carpets together. Dimensions: 65cm/25.5in x 65cm/25.5in. This could use a wash and two of the corners are week with missing pile and repair (see enlargements). This has the classic Ningxia yellow field.

A charming small figure of a seated Buddhist lion, the left paw resting on a ball, the head with large bulbous eyes and the open jaws showing the sharp teeth. Cast massive bronze with gilding, the base with two pins. Customized pierced wooden stand with prunus. Condition: traces of age, wear to gilding, little polish residue. Dimension: height with stand: c. 10.8 cm, c. 9.1 cm long x 6.5 cm high x 4.5 cm wide.

A Pair of Chinese 19th Century Cantonese Porcelain Vases

An attractive pair of porcelain vases elaborately decorated in various different coloured enamels and gilding. The main lower body of each vase features four main panels containing a variety of figures, flower blossoms, birds and butterflies. Each vase has been individually decorated and the amount of work involved in doing this is tremendous.

Rare Chinese bronze censer with qilin head handle base with da ming xuande nian zhi mark 18th century, good condition please see picture for detail, size: 14 cm diameter.

A unique object for the scholar’s table made of hardwood root, partly sculptured in the shape of two peaches attached to a branch with two leaves. The peach have a strong symbolic meaning in Chinese culture, it is a symbol of longevity and immortality; it is said that the peach tree grows in the orchard of Xiwangmu, The Queen Mother of the West. Peaches are common to Chinese art. Size: roughly 20 x 18 x 15 cm. Qing, 19th cent. Condition: very good!

Good Qing Dynasty blue and white, porcelain censer with with three floral patterns (each one different) and lion face feet. There are two fine hairline cracks running off the rim noted in the last enlargement. Nice size W: 18cm7in and H: 8.8cm/3.4in.
