**SOLD** Through our Liverpool Shop April 2021 A rare and very finely decorated Chinese porcelain vase depicting a flowering peony shrub painted with fencai/famille rose enamels.
On the base is the iron red four character mark "Shen de tang zhi" -the "Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue" which was located in the Old Summer Palace, the Yuanmingyuan, which was destroyed by European troops in 1860. The mark was used during the Kangxi and Daoguang reigns and also during the Republic period (1912-1948) when we believe this vase was made... A charming porcelain group modelled as a Budai seated with five Children, climbing on his arms and legs. The base with an impressed mark. Condition: fine, some wear to gilding, base with some rust traces. Dimension: c. 24.5 cm high x 21 cm wide, weight: 1065 g.

Pair of Chinese early Republic period baluster form porcelain vases covered overall in a flambé transmutation style glaze (referred to as "san yang kai tai") of oxblood red and green that darkens to nearly black. The glaze drips down into the flared mouth and stops short of the unglazed base. 8 3/4" to just under 9” high each. Early 20th century. Very good overall condition...

Condition is good, only one hairline appear visible on the enlargement 4, and normally with minor fritting to the rim, otherwise is very good blue paste tone. Diameter: 34,5 cm.
