Antique Japanese suzuri bako (writing box). Made of beautiful keyaki (zelkova elm) burl and persimmon wood. Unusually fine joinery on the corners. With three small drawers. The top is a persimmon wood panel that lifts off to reveal a compartment intended for an ink stone. The inside of the compartment has traces of red pigment as well as calligraphy and an array of brush stokes. One can imagine the calligrapher hurriedly wiping his brush or making a practice stoke.

1940s - 1950s, Chinese moss agate low slung lotus style brush washer. The moss agate shows nice markings being genuine and is a light grey/green to darker green in color. The rim has two lotus flowers and two seed pods placed around the undulating and curling top. Condition is excellent having the normal characters of this type agate, which are natural indentations. Having a very lovely shape and design, it measures 6.25" x 5.5" x .75" high.

18C Chinese domed jade plaque carved in low relief with Buddhist auspicious symbols. Color is a whitish pale celadon. It is carved very, very thin with two sets of small holes to the back edge. This may have been attached to clothing or fabric or, perhaps, attached to a large ruyi scepter. Condition is excellent and it is wonderfully translucent. Measures: 4" x 3.25".
