Antique Chinese carved jadeite snuff bottle. The stone is speckled with variations of green including small striations of a brilliant apple-green color. The flattened globular formed body is carved with peony flowers on one side and lotus blossoms and birds on the other.

Very fine Chinese antique belt hook carved in the shape of a knot with a butterfly on either end, made of beautiful mottled jade ranging from white to grey to bright blue/green, a silver fitting on the back was added later to convert this clothing hook to a pin or broach.

A rare Chinese jade carving of a recumbent water buffalo. Laying with legs folded under his body, the buffalo extends his head forward. His ribbed horns curve backward, the tips almost meeting behind his neck. The artist's skill is evident in the naturalistic slope of the buffalo's spine over his rotund form as well as in the details of his face and tail. Carved of opaque yellow and brown mottled jade.

Beautiful Chinese antique display shelf made of Solid Jichi-mu wood (very heavy). The chest has three large display shelves, and two small drawers just under the top display area. The drawers are carved with scrolling mist and chimera and outfitted with brass pulls. Very nicely detailed. Each display area is enclosed on three sides with a low carved lattice work. Late 19th - early 20th Century Size: 69 1/2" high x 35" wide x 16 1/2" deep.

Antique Chinese Jun ware bowl. Made of earthenware and glazed a light blue color with a purple splash that is dripping toward the center. The rim is a brown color where the glaze is thinest and the foot is left unglazed as was the tradition with Jun ware. The blue and purple colors are made with straw ash in the glaze. Antique Chinese Jun Ware (Chun Yao) chawan (tea bowl) with grey-blue glaze. Outside with drips of dark and light blue glaze mingling to create greens and browns. Evaluation done in the 1930's by TZ Shiota when the family was inheriting the collection from their great grandfather, Federic Torrey. The collection was stored in a trunk since his death in 1935.
