The piece measures just under 5-1/2" inches high and is completely intact and free of repair. Exceptional root marking is visible on the surface which is painted in a series of loops and swirls. Beautifully potted example.
Oldbailey Antiques
SOLD This is a beautifully decorated Neolithic vase, standing just over 7" in height. While the body of the vase is intact and free of repair, it appears to me that the top may have been ground down, although I'm not 100% sure. Additionally, one or more of the four horn-like projections near the rim appear to have been reattached and/or replaced. Notwithstanding, the decoration and potting are superb, as the photos hopefully will show. The pricing is based on and reflects the possibility that the pie...

GBP £650 Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Cocoon Jar
This pottery "cocoon" jar was made over 2,000 years ago during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). The shape, named after its similarity to the silkworm cocoon, evolved during the late Warring States period (475 - 221 BC) and then generally died out by the middle of the Western Han. The form of this particular example is a little different to some others with its more "rounded" body and shorter foot. It is made from a relatively highly-fire... LARGE Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Camel with TL Test (75cm)
This exceptionally large and impressive pottery model of a camel was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in various different coloured pigments. The camel stands upright and alert with its head raised a little. Height 75 cm (29.5 inches), length 60 cm (23.5 inches). We have had this camel tested by Oxford Authentications, the only test... Chinese Han Dynasty Pottery Hu Jar with Dragon Cover
This fine-quality pottery jar was made some 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). The smooth burnished surface has a silvery sheen to it. Its moulded cover depicts two intertwined dragons. Around the mouth are calcified deposits from long burial (easily removed). Hei...

Chinese Tang Dynasty Changsha Bowl from 9th Century Shipwreck (c. AD 826)
This rare decorated glazed bowl was made around AD 826, during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) at the Changsha kilns. We can be that precise about the dating because it was excavated from the "Belitung Wreck" in 1998-99, a mile off the coast of Belitung, Indonesia. Another bowl from that wreck is inscribed with a date equivalent to AD 826 and carbon 14 analysis of the wreck also confirms an early 9th century date. Al...
