Made from Kiri wood (paulownia) front with Sugi (cedar) wood frame Its drawers open with iron mokko/melon style handles, and with large, round lock plates incised with kiri leaf mon as well as fan-shaped corner hardware. The hair is pulled up into an elaborate top knot, urna between the eyebrows. Acquired on the London (UK) Art Market prior to 1980. Mounted on a Museum Quality metal stand. Antique Japanese small tansu chest made for personal use, made all of kiri (Japanese cypress) wood with nice patina and especially nice joinery. Antique Chinese peking carpet, woven in light, medium, dark navy blue and tan colored fibers, with a central medallion flanked by peony bunches, its edges bordered with repeating geometric motifs. Circa 1920s

Size: 5 ft 10" x 4 ft 11"

A dark blue hemp fabric forms the base of these kote sleeve guards. The upper area is covered in iron chain mail with pair of double gourd plates, crest mon, gilt iron plates, throughout the kote. The shoulder edge has three hinge plates to fashion to the Do armor. Unusually mounted on a custom black iron stand.

Antique Japanese solid ebony hardwood cha tansu, for storing and displaying tea ceremony articles. The top of the piece has a wide compartment behind two sliding panel doors, with two open shelves below. Its sides are carved with a reticulated honeycomb design. The bottom of the chest has two Persimmon burl sliding panels opening to a lovely shelved interior with foliate carved paneling and two small drawers.
