Antique Philippine barong sword with carved wooden handle and inlaid scabbard. The single sided leaf-shaped blade is attached to a hardwood handle with silver and natural fibers. The scabbard (taguban) is carved of wood, wrapped with rattan and has shell inlay in elaborate Islamic filigree. From the predominately Islamic Sulu Islands of Southern Philippines.

The carving is rendered in gilding and black lacquer over carved hardwood, with shell inserts for the eyes, typical for the better quality Mandalay era pieces. Fine AVA Bronze Buddha subduing Mara, seated in the Lotus position on a stepped throne depicting 2 layers decorated with fine double lotus leaves in high relief. Original patina, good condition, no repairs. The Buddha's right hand is touching the earth while his left hand is in gesture of meditation. 15th Century, Burma. A beautiful genuine Khmer ANGKOR WAT Stone Carving/Slab depicting a dancing APSARA, a celestial Nymph, mounted on a museum quality stand. Her head is adorned with a headdress and earrings, a necklace and around her waist is a knotted skirt with sash. Decorated with vines and foliage. Origin: Angkor Wat 12-13th Century. A rare LAOTIAN BRONZE BUDDHA IN DEEP MEDITATION (MARA VIJAYA). Difficult to find genuine Bronze Buddhas from Laos as most were made of wood because of the high cost and especially in this pose/position. Very good condition overall, late 18th Century. Antique Tibetan silver statue of the Tibetan Vajra Buddhist fierce deity Mahakala. He stands on top of two bodies atop a lotus pedestal, wielding two important symbols of Tibetan Buddhism: A dorje and a bell. He wears the skin of a tiger around his waist, a crown of five skulls to represent the Five Poisons- anger, desire, ignorance, jealousy, and pride- transformed into Five Wisdoms. A gilt copper repousse figure of Garuda, finely worked with outstretched wings, his hands in the Karan mudra or demon-expelling mudra. He wears long necklaces hanging from his neck, with matching arm bands and wristlets. The front of the figure with gold gilt, blue, green, and orange pigments with black and white pigments for the eyes. Garudas are protectors and enemies of the Naga or serpents.
