The bag retains that rugged look used by the merchants who travelled across the Himalayas during the spring to Tibet and back bring goods from India to the Tibetan plateau. Very old (over 50 years) which is ancient by Burmese lacquer standards. This was possibly made by the Shan who favored dramatic geometric designs over the more figural Burman style. This has some fritting on the lacquer. H: 24cm/9.5in D: 18cm/7.1in.

Wonderful large carved wooden face of a man. His mouth is open wide and whiskers splay outward. He has a wide nose and large eyes. He appears to be wearing an oval shaped hat on which is carved an animal of some sort with long striped tail and clawed feet. The wood is beautifully worn from years of weather and rain. There are traces of white and yellow paint. Thailand. Early 19th century. Size: 24" high x 17" wide x 3 1/2" deep.
