Rare Khmer 12th/13th Century Glazed Stoneware Covered Jar

This rare and unusual jar was made around the late 12th to early 13th century. On first sight it appears cylindrical, but upon removing the cover it is clear that it is not, both body and cover being a little rectangular. There are various decorative ridges surrounding the base of the jar and the cover. Large Sukhothai plate, 14th-16th century, with fish in under-glaze iron black and banded mottled decoration around rim and underside. Exposed spur marks and glaze has been compromised, especially on one side and some chipping to rim. Diameter: 11.50 inches; height: 2.50 inches.
