A very rare and beautiful Pyu agate carved bird. A hole is drilled from the top of the head to the bottom of the bird so it can be worn as a pendant. The bird is still the symbol for Burma. Size: L. 3cm. Condition: Perfect. No repairs.

Antique Nepalese bronze bodhisatva seated on a double lotus throne. The piece has the original copper base with stamped design. The robes of the figure are skillfully incised with a beautiful cloud and scrolling vine design. The hands are in muddra as they hold a small container. Some old loses. It measures 8" tall 5 " wide 3" deep. 19th century, obtained in the 1960s in Katmandu .

A elegant lacquerware for monastery use. Made in Kyaukka, in the lower Chindwin District in Burma, made from woven matting and coiled bamboo and lacquered in black and red. Antique Tibetan bronze vajra dorje. The handle has three heads topped with a horse. The vajra connects the hilt to the head of Makara where a three edged blade is attached. It was made in Tibet in the 19th/20th century, obtained in Kathmandu in the 1960s. It measures 12" long.

A refined image of the deity Amitayus, known as the Buddha of infinite light in many pureland texts including the Sukhavativyuha Sutra. The central Amitayus image is surrounded by nearly a hundred or so other Amitayus images reflecting a concept found in Vajrayana and Mahayana texts of how a Buddha or Bodhisattva can be found in many locations simultaneously. The thangka contains a blessing with hand imprints and a mantra in the Bru-sha script to invoke the deity...

A rare Siam 18th. century Ayutthaya gilt bronze Buddha sits with legs crossed, right hand in the bhumispara mudra, the "calling the earth to witness" gesture, left hand in the mudra of meditation.

This posture symbolizes the union of method and wisdom, samasara and nirvana, and the realization of the conventional and ultimate truths. It was in this posture that Shakyamuni overcame obstructions while meditating on Truth, transforming delusions into mirror-like wisdom...

Antique Tibetan kapala, or human skullcup, with a beautiful bronze stand. In Tibet, it was considered a great honor to have one's cranium turned into a kapala, which would be used for religious purposes. Kapalas are used in the Hindu Tantra and Buddhist religions. The skull itself is very old and is lined with nickel. The bronze stand has a beautiful lotus design, skulls going all around, the image of a kneeling worshipper, and hoof shaped feet.
