An antique blue and white Imari porcelain decorated with landscapes and ginko leaves. The landscape is portraying the view of the noted Song Dynasty literati scholar, Su Dongpo having a boat ride at Red Cliff. The motif is based on a hand scroll written by Su Dongpo reminiscing of the fun he had with his friends and the poems that were composed. A fine and interesting bronze sculpture of a lady selling fish. The figure is holding a basket of fish with a humorous looking octopus wanting to jump out of the basket. Often during the Meiji period, figures from daily life such as sellers of various produce and products were created for the Euro-American market where the charm and simplicity appealed to collectors. The base contains a cartouche seal of the artist, Seikoku. Age: Late Meiji- Taisho Period Size: length 9" width 8" height 19.5"

An unusual hira natsume decorated with motifs of a cicada, dragonfly, spider, snail, cricket, and frog. A few insects are closely associated with the various seasons. For example, the cicada and snail are summer insects, the dragonfly and cricket are autumn. In addition, the insects have allusions to zen and Japanese philosophies. A splendid tea container decorated with hydrangeas done in makie. The container is known as a hira natsume, where the wide structure is a signature element. It is indigo dyeing cotton Yogi of the Edo era. It uses technique of the ombre dyeing. It is dyeing of the high technique. It is handspan, handwoven and it is dyed with an indigo plant of nature. It has several places of repair traces. There is not the stain. It is all original in the Edo era. Size 147cm x 126cm(57.8"x49.6")

It is woven with common hemp thread, indigo-silk thread dyed beautifully and a double cotton thread dyed black. It is a very rare textile made in Iwate. The dye of the silk thread is bright blue. However, you can feel that you leave it a little in green. It is Noragi thick beautifully made in the Showa era from the Taisho era. Size 94cm x 116cm (37 "x 45.6")

Antique Japanese lacquered samurai sword stand,holds five swords. The stand is simply done in black lacquer with gold paintings on the front and back panels. The bridge of the stand is decorated with a view of Mount Fuji divided into two sections. One side shows Mount Fuji with a dragon ascending the peak of the mountain. The other side shows the foothills of mount Fuji with a view of the bay of Tago (Tago no Ura). Age: 19th century. Size: length: 19.5" width 7.5" height: 19"

An elaborately decorated lacquered sword stand. The stand is made into a small chest with three drawers. The chest is decorated with motifs of plums, a phoenix, and a Chinese style landscape with inlaid embellishments. The interior of the drawers is done in nashiji or pear skin makie. Antique Japanese hand painted illustrates Nara-ehon style book. Circa 17th Century or older. Painted with ink and pigments on paper. Nara-ehon was produced from the Muromachi period through to Edo period. They are usually featured Japanese old tales and Noh songs. Here in this album include eight different scenes of rustic farmers engaged in agriculture in Muromachi period, ceremonial customs of samurai couple and landscape. It could have been a personal painting collection in ancient times...

From the "Kuang-Hsu" region, mustard colored bowl with blue fish design inside, China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911); Kuang-Hsu Huangxu mark to the base, Dimensions: Diameter of the bowl is 6 inches and it stands 2 1/2 inch tall, no condition concerns.

DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Sumida vase with round neck covered in a rich, thick flambé glaze running to the shoulders, with a high relief figure of a monkey balanced on a rocky ledge. In his right hand the monkey holds a peach (symbol of longevity) he has pulled from a green vase; these are all contrasted against the ribbed red body of the vase. Excellent condition with no chips; signed "Ryosai" on the base...

A Japanese print done by the noted contemporary Japanese artist, Tadashi Nakayama (1927~). The image is a view of a section of a shrine building at Heian Jingu in Kyoto. Tadashi Nakayama is known for creating prints combining traditional elements from ukiyoe woodblocks and Western oil paintings. Age: 1961. Size: length 28.75" height 24.5"

A view of a gate of a Japanese home found in the outskirts of Kyoto such as Ohara. The print contains an inscription of the title of the work, the date of the print, and the number. The woodblock was made by Saito Kiyoshi (1907-1997) who was known in producing prints of Buddhist subjects and views of traditional architecture in Kyoto. Age: 1968. Size: height 24.5" length 28.75"

Early and rarely encountered oversized Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) by Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992) depicting tradesmen. The print is pencil-signed “Yoshitoshi Mori” at the lower right, dated ’68, and numbered 28/60. The artist’s red seal is above the signature. The paper measures 26 1/2”V x 21 1/2”H. The print is in good overall condition. The portion of the paper edge that was previously covered by a mat is very sightly darker...
