Framed painting. Anatomically correct skeleton striking a rather elegant pose. Black ink and gofun on brown paper. Unsigned. Japan, late Edo, early Meiji era. Mid 19th century.
Image: 35 x 13 inches. Japanese frame: ca. 43 x 17 ¾ inches.
Gofun rubbed here and there. Chip in frame. All in all excellent condition.

A pair of hanging scrolls depicting the gods of wind and thunder: Futen or Fujin on the left and Raiden or Raijin on the right. Ink and colors on silk. Both signed Soseki saku and each with two seals, one of which reads Soseki as well. Japan. Late Meiji or Taisho era.

Pair of 1920's Japanese Gold Wire Cloisonne Vase with Birds & Flowers

They are 6.05 inches (15.4 cm) tall by 2.8 inches (7.1 cm) wide. The total weight is 0.8 Lb.

One vase has enamel bruising. Both have tarnished metal, enamel pitting, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Pair 1930's Japanese Studio Porcelain Vase Bird By Hikojito Imura Marked "Dai Nippon Imura Zo" 大日本井村製

They are 8.8 inches (22.4 cm) tall by 5.5 inches (14 cm) wide. Total weight is 5.5 lb.

They have rubbing of gold and surface wears and scratches. One vase has an uneven base (as seen in the photos).

Each panel is 37-1/4 x 68-1/2 inches (94.5 x 174 cm). The screens have been restored, with some old repairs visible. Gargoyle or bat-like dragon-esque creatures spread their wings among tendrils of flame on the heavily decorated blue sides of this large pair of 19th century Sometsuke Japanese nesting bowls. Within boats ply the placid waters. The larger bowl is 24.5 cm (just less than 10 inches) diameter,10cm (4 inches) tall. The smaller is 21 cm diameter, 10cm tall and both are in excellent condition, dating from the 19th century.
