The design is highly unusual with three sets of sliding doors, one with glass panels, various size drawers and a lift-away panel with a charming natural burl handle. Meiji age (1868-1912)

Antique Japanese Noh theater mask of a woman, possibly Kohime, with black lacquer hair showing three loose strands on each side, bright red lacquer lips, pale face with blackened lips and sharpened eyes. Beautifully hand-carved, with painted inscription on the inside of the mask The eye holes are carved as 16 petal chrysanthemums. Dates from early 20th century.

Japanese antique black formal winter silk kimono hand dyed and finely painted along the bottom with a powerful predator hawk or falcon on rockery preparing to attack a much smaller chidori (plover) flying above churning water. The scene is set against a landscape of pine branches on a pale celadon background. Symbols of military strength, Japanese artists historically painted raptors for the wealthy nobility and samurai warriors who ruled Japan...

A fine woven tonkotsu, 19th century.

Deftly woven with very thin strips of bamboo then lacquered to strengthen and waterproof. The cord guides and knop are cleverly integral and remain complete and in good condition. Within the lid there is a maker's 'ruyi' mark in red lacquer...

A Japanese sword "menuki" of 3 sparrows that was converted into an obidome during the Taisho period. The bronze color of the metal gives a naturalistic brown coloration to the birds--their beaks, eyes and feet are highlighted in gold. The fitted back is in 9 karat gold. Age: Menuki 18th century.

This is Yogi which a rich merchant used in a district for Edo period. As for this, good-quality Tumugi-Silk is used. This is dyed by Yuzen- dyeing. As for this, brown is used for a basic color. The brown items were popular in the big city for Edo period. As for this, the shading off which is one of the technique of the Yuzen dyeing is very impressive. The shading off expresses the three-dimensional impression of the pattern. This has slight fading on a shoulder...

A superb elephant shaped incense burner by Miyanaga Tozan enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Zo Koro. Extreme clarity in the fine details, I will let the photos speak for themselves. It is 6 x 4 x 6 inches (15 x 10 x 15 cm) and in excellent condition. It comes with a pamphlet dated Showa 16 (1941) the last year of the artists life.
