An antique Japanese Gifu Choba Tansu made of Hinoki and Sugi wood. Top section has two slat sliding doors with two small interior drawers. The bottom section has a pair of sliding doors , five drawers and a safe compartment.Excellent condition.

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) from the Niigata region of Japan. The front section is made of burled keyaki (Zelkova) and the sides are sugi (Crytomeria). The tansu has a pair of burled wood sliding doors over two burled drawers with heavy iron locks. Exceptional burled Keyaki wood.

A Japanese antique merchant (Choba) tansu made of thick quartered sawn keyaki wood with keyaki burl wood doors. The wonderful hardware is hand made iron. The casing is crytomeria. The tansu's top section has three top drawers. The mid section has sliding doors with an interior shelf and adjacent two drawers. The lower section has 4 small drawers and below them 3 more smaller drawers...

Vase ornamented with horizontal bands raised in relief and flaring out at the waist and sloping inward to the shoulder. This is a Japanese antique Edo Period of habutae-silk kaga-noren of Mount Fuji and the seaside landscape(miho no matubara). High quality hand-yuzen dyed Kaga Noren. With indigo and gray hand-drawn dyeing, it expresses an elegant and beautiful landscape. This kaga-noren is a very rare design and I think it was made by a special order by a wealthy merchant. The Size of Tolkkuri: 4 5/8" High x 2 3/8" Dia, 2 1/16" Bottom. The size of Each Sake Cup: 1 5/8" Dia x 1 13/16" High. This is very unusual and fine classy Japanese Kiyomizu Yaki Sake set by Sawamura Tosai 3 rd (1951-). It is made with fine quality Kiyomizu Yaki refine earthern body. The wall thickness on Tokkuri is only 1/16" Thick less than 2 mm. So as Sake cup has only 1 mm thick on wall. Tokkuri as well as 2 sake cup has the hand written signature of Tosai in blue underglaze (sometsuke)...
