Black and gold lacquer sageju-baco (picnic box) decorated with floral motifs in hiramaki-e. It includes a sake bottle, a four-compartment box with nashi-ji lacquer inside, a simple tray and a hollow tray. At the top, there is a bronze handle for transport.

The sageju-bako is divided into four superimposed boxes for food on the left; a simple tray, a sake bottle and a hollow tray on the right. They are in the shape of a plum blossom.

Pair of 1900's Japanese Mixed Metal Gold Komai Style Box with Geisha & Samurai Fighting Rooster

They are 1.25 inches (3.1 cm) tall by 3 inches (7.6 cm) long by 1.8 inches (4.5 cm) wide. Total weight is 403 gram.

They have rubbing of gold, cut marks at the bottom and bent at the base corners and inside the lid, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Baby's ceremonial kimono made of Echigo-jofu which is hand-woven of choma (ramie) and dyed with indigo. The fine kasuri pattern is yoko-gasuri (weft kasuri) and bamboo, pine tree and plum bloom motifs. Echigo jofu was first woven asa kasuri in mainland Japan having been influenced by Ryukyu (Okinawan) kasuri. The dye is called Ai-sabi which is very dark blue dyed with vegetable indigo mixed with shoen (burnt pine shoot) or other catalysts...
