Japanese Satsuma vase with various scenes from different periods in Japanese history and one view with Chinese scholars or sages. The views are framed with a motif of flowers and fans. Bottom of the vase contains a name that is impressed in the clay. The top part of name is unreadable, the bottom contains the name Satsuma ware. Age: Taisho Period. Size: Diameter: 2.75"

Japanese vase with a view of a temple near a lake within the mountainside. The way the bamboo is painted and the serene setting is seen in similar pieces done in Kutani and Kyoto wares. Vase contains a signature on the bottom set in a cartouche with the name, Shintou. Age: Meiji/ Taisho period. Size: Height: 7.25" Diameter: 2.75"

Three(3) Japanese Hina Dolls, Meiji period, 9 1/4" to 6 1/4" high, 4 3/4" to 5 1/2" wide, 3" deep, with humorous face expressions were very well executed, carved out of the wood and lacquered, all have glass eyes. Each guys wearing silk garment and hat. Three(3) pieces of accessories came with doll set and the condition is good except silk garments are stained slightly with age and one(1) hat has loose rope.

A small sized Kutani ware censer decorated with motif of chrysanthemums and calligraphy inscribed on a circular base and on the lid's hand scroll like design,all the work meticulously executed by hand. On one sides of the censer is a small detailed calligraphy of the entire poetry collection of the Manyoshu and Shinkokinshu...

Charming Japanese antique small cloisonne vase decorated with a scene of two koi swimming in a stream under blossoming wisteria, the flowers are done in purple, pink, yellow and white, the entire scene set on a turquoise blue ground, bottom contains an image of a bell (or suzu) with the name Gokou stamped onto the bottom, Meiji Period. The lid with a sage or immortal holding a book, the handles in the shape of mythical animals, the body decorated with dragons and clouds, the censer is carried by three kneeling boys. Golden eyes gaze at the full moon rising over dried autumn grass and wilted flowers on this fine scroll signed Shuso (Hotta Shuso). Pigment and light color on silk in a patterned silk mounting with bone rollers. The scroll measures 19 x 78 inches (47.5 x 192.5 cm) and is in overall fine condition.
Hotta Shuso (1894-1954) was born in Nagano prefecture and studied under Ikegami Shuho, settling in Tokyo. One of his best students, Shuso later became leader of Shuho's Denshindo atelier...

A worker makes his way through the autumn tinged hills, home just a few steps away in this brilliant Nanga work by Hashimoto Kansetsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box which is in turn enclosed in a red lacquered wooden box (Nijubako). Light color on silk mounted in a superb frame of blue silk with patterned with dragon dials and featuring large ivory rollers. The scroll measures 22 x 85-1/2 inches (58 x 217 cm) and is in excellent condition...

A Japanese shrine lantern often seen hanging outside of shinto shrines. Generally there are devotional lanterns that are donated to the shrine and lanterns that are part of the architecture and design of the shrine complex. This lantern would be the latter, where it was part of an Inari Taisha shrine. The lantern contains the distinct crest of the inari shrines and each panel is decorated with a cut out design of scrolling vines. Age: Meiji to Taisho Period...

Japanese food container, at times known as a jikiro, where food items are placed inside the container. In tea ceremony, the object is used to place sweets inside. The object is done in black lacquer with makie decorated with a motif of a peony. Inside the container is decorated with gold in the style known as Nashiji, or pear skin. Age: 20th century. Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.
