This is beautiful Japanese antique Satsuma box with very fine detailing. The white enameling in the flowers and leaves with the gold detail s remind us of work seen on some Seikozan or Shizan pieces. A load of time consuming workmanship went into this piece. It is in outstanding condition with minor gold wear. The box measures 4 3/8 by 3 1/4 inches and is about 2 inches deep. It is not chipped, cracked or repaired. Any discoloration where the lid sets down is missing gold from wear or dirt...

This is a very beautiful and stylish Japanese Cloisonne vase. It looks like it could have been made a piece made by Kawaguchi Bunzaeoman but it is signed with a tiny script by Ota. It was primarily created in the basse-taille style with traditional cloisonne then used with the flowers and leaves. The vase is heavy for its size and the enamel is thickly applied. This is an extremely rare cloisonne masterpiece. It was created by one of the great Meiji artists, Ogasawara Shuzo. It is also a very large piece for cloisonne, at 14 3/4 inches wide and 7 tall. It probably weighs over 10 lbs. The entire dragon is raised relief. This is an eye catching piece that truly belongs in a Museum. Condition is excellent.

Japanese Satsuma Earthenware Koro, Incense Burner, on Tripod feet and two(2) Elephant Handles, signed "Senzan", Ca. This is a large and extremely rare Japanese Cloisonne vase. Though unsigned this vase was clearly created by Ogasawara Shuzo. As the images show this is a fabulous example of Meiji Era art. The vase measures 15 1/4 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Condition is outstanding but there is a tiny short line, of about 3/8 inch near the base.

A small cast iron Japanese tetsubin of slightly flared cylindrical form, decorated in relief to one side with maple leaves floating on a stream against a textured ground. The backside is plain save for the textured ground and the foundry mark for Kinshudo. The cover is flat with a pine cone finial and the handle can be moved to either side. In excellent condition, it measures 2.5 inches high excluding the handle, diameter about 3" at widest. Dates late 19th Century.

A rare pair of Japanese double gourd shaped porcelain vases, decorated with a ho-o bird flying over "prunus mume" in overglaze blue, green, yellow, aubergine, iron red and gold. Standing on a broad footrim, the rim with "kuchibeni". Condition: fine, only one vase with a short hairline ending in a tiny rim frit on the rear side (please see photo no. 12). This is a very fine unsigned Japanese cloisonne vase with a unique form. The enamel and wire work are exquisite. It is not signed but the quality is so good and so unique that the maker is Hayashi. Look at the last image of a signed 3 3/4 inch vase and compare them. The work on this vase is not only similar, the gold wire birds, unique spider mums and leaves on this vase are even smaller in size...

This is a very rare and wonderful Japanese Cloisonne box. There are a wide variety of enamel colors and designs making this a very unique piece. The designs, mottled and translucent enamel colors strongly suggest that Honda is the artist. The rims are also Bronze and appear to have never been silver plated. Condition is excellent. Japanese heavy Brocade silk Shrine Uchishiki, or altar cover, Meiji period, 1868-1912, 26" x 26" square, Gold and Silver brocaded double Phoenix birds in the gold metallic background and narrow bands of egg plant color background between. Water stain in one corner on the silk backing, not in front, otherwise the condition is good, still retain the thread to keep the edges flat. There are some writings in the back, but not able to read.
