Almost square fukusa or ceremonial cloth or cover. Two hand-embroidered diamond shaped white silk emblems of a pair of cranes, enhanced by gold-thread outlines, on a kikko hanabishi background in multicolor yuzen dye technique between two bands of bright orange-red. Some of the flowers in the kikko hanabishi ground are hand-embroidered...

Daruma standing tall, wrapped tightly in his garment, the tips of his feet just peeping out. The bottom section of his garment is flapping in the wind. This pose is associated with the episode in which Daruma travels to China, crossing the river Yangzi, while standing on a reed.
The figure was molded in a cast in two halves (front and back) and joined before firing...

Japanese Stoneware Sake Bottle, Tokkuri, 1960, 10" high, 5 1/4" wide-widest area, 2" diameter-top rim, with unglazed some faint writings in front, hairline crack start from bottom to side of the bottle, it is not loose, as is condition.

Large peach-shaped bowl decorated on in- and outside with a bold Rinpa design of flowering red, white and blue camellias and leaves. Over a cream-colored coarse stoneware a thin layer of cream-colored slip has been applied, on top of which overglaze blue, black, green, red, white enamels and gold.

On the outside in a white rectangular reserve with black outlines the signature Kenzan. Japan, 1950s.

In the style of Ogata Kenzan or Ogata Kenzan studio.

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print with hand-applied color by Ono Tadashige (1909-1990) signed at the lower right "T. Ono" in white ink. Attached to a sheet of handmade Japanese washi paper inscribed in black ink in kanji verso with the artist's signature, the title "Fugu" (Pufferfish), and date of 1959. At the lower left in pencil is "No. 12" and the lower right appears to hold the original price (rubbed). The washi backing sheet measures 12 3/8" x 18" (image: 11 7/8" x 17 5/8")...

A vintage Japanese Tansu called Honbako (book chest) made of dark stained Momiji (Maple) and Tochinoki (Horse Chestnut) woods with an interior made of Kiri (Paulownia). Single hinged door secures a spacious area where books were kept and 5 filing drawers where flats and documents were stored. Below the door is one large drawer where valuables were kept. All original bronze hardware.

A spectacular orb hearkening to the Sputnick era created by Hasegawa Isamu and exhibited at the 11th Nitten in 1955, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The circular form is cleft with two equal but opposite dimples, offering both a futuristic and archaic dimension. It is 38 cm (15 inches) Diameter and in excellent condition.

A catfish in bronze by Kome Jiichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the mid Showa era. The slippery creature is 30.5 cm (12 inches) long and in excellent condition, signed with an incised signature beneath. Kome Jiichi (1896-1985) He was born in Toyama prefecture, on of the traditional homes of bronze work in Japan. He graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts studied under Takamura Kouun. Exhibiting with the Bunten National exhibition, he was awarded there in 1942...

Dusk puddles and drips among the thick textures of this mid-century oil by Yamada Eiji titled on back “Mori” (Forest). Oil on canvas, it is 18 x 24 inches (46 x 61 cm) and is in excellent condition, wrapped in a simple raw wood storage frame.
Yamada Eiji (1912-1985) was born in Fukuoka on the Southern main island of Kyushu and was accepted into the Nikkakai Ten exhibition in 1933 for the first time...
