A rare sculptural basin by Kiyomizu Kyubei dating from the late 1950s signed on the base Yo. Very heavy, it is 11 x 8 x 9 inches (28 x 20 x 23.5 cm) and is in excellent condition. This came from the Rokubei family estate. No box. The size of Kogo: 2 3/4" Dia x 1 5/16" High. This is beautiful Japanese Roiro, Black Makie Kogo (incense box). It has four makie leaves design with silver, gold, red, and dark green color with gold works. Inside Kogo with silver finish. The condition of Kogo excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. It does not come with Tomobako, match box by artist, but we will supply wooden box. Dating from after war 1950-1960's.

Three cups and saucer trays by Noritake, Japan, mid 50’s. Saucers shaped like water lily leaves – a modernist design also reminding of the painter’s palette shape so much in vogue in the 50’s in ceramics, jewelry, teak wood and more. The cups to fit at one side, in order to allow for a sandwich or some biscuits. The back with the N and ribbon mark in use from 1953. Width of saucers "9 ½ / 24 cm, height of cups "2 2/3 / 6.8 cm. Condition: fine.

The Choraku line of potters began when a student of Kichizaemon XI (Keinyu) and Kichizaemon XII (Konyu) opened an independent kiln in Kyoto in 1904. The line was officially given the name Choraku in 1906 by Choyuken, the head of a very influential tea ceremony association. Red Raku chawan are a favorite of tea enthusiasts and seem to have a face for every mood. In the right light they may appear like an amber sunset on the horizon. An otherworldly form from the age of Sputnick by important artist Morino Taimei exhibited at the 1959 Nitten National Art Exhibition and published in the Nittenshi (vol. 22). It is signed in romanized characters H. Morino (His given name is Hiroaki). It is roughly 12 inches (30 cm) tall, 15 inches (38 cm) diameter and in excellent condition...

Vintage Japanese watercolor painting by Fukutaro Terauchi (1891-?) depicting a village scene with figures walking under parasols in the snow. Signed at the lower right. Likely dates from the 1950s. Executed on slightly textured watercolor paper measuring about 11 3/4" x 8 1/8." Very good overall condition. There is a narrow strip of old tape residue at the top back and there are a few pencil notations on the back.
