$650.00 Inspired the works of Iizuka Rokansai, this open weave basket with richly toned dark red-brown split bamboo has a slightly tapering cylindrical body with an offset loop handle at the top. Signed with an incised signature on the bottom. Comes with a bamboo water container. Dates late 20th century. Measures 8” high including handle, 4.74” diameter. This basket had a very nice sheen to it that is not being captured by the photos. You will be pleased.
Japanese mid-century sosaku hanga woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) titled "Winter in Aizu" from a series by the same name. Signed in black ink at the lower right and with the artist's red Kiyoshi seal above. Unlimited edition dating circa 1960s. Paper size: 11 9/16" x 17 1/8" (image: about 10" x 15 1/4). Very good overall condition and color with full margins. The print is very lightly sunstruck and there is a small faint browned spot in the center bottom by the margin...

Printer: Yokoi. This seal combination indicates an early postwar edition (1950-63). Koitsu catalog no.: TK-DH-49. Condition: Old tear repair at right margin and image edge. Paper is thinner in this area. Kaneshige Toyo is no doubt one of the most important Japanese potters in 20 century and the first Bizen artist to be awarded with Living National Treasure title in 1956.
He is considered as the founder of modern Bizen pottery and at the same time he is known for successfully recreating the sheen of Momoyama Bizen pottery.
