This is a Japanese antique Boro shibori and katazome hanjyuban jacket textile Edo period (1800－1867). The sleeve part natural Indigo dye cotton katazome. The body and back are silk safflower dyed shibori(Tie-dyeing) . The collar and lining are cotton. The fabric on the collar is a very nice Edo period cotton. This is a Japanese antique Boro Tattered Material a rare and hand-spun natural Shina-fu Linden fabric with dark brown. It is an rare old meiji period (1868-1911)fabric. It is a thick and rough. Shina-fu Linden is a deciduous tree native to northern temperate regions. Elm and linden cloth naturally turn darker brown as time passes, due to the tannin content in these tree fibers. There is dirt and repair marks. The rag that has been used many times and discolored is an art in itself...

An interesting modern, abstract koro. The compressed sphere with elliptical, off centered opening. A warm, brown temmoku glaze with darker brown glaze dripping from the top and stopping in controlled fashion above a well - continuing to form the unglazed foot in ogee fashion. An artist seal (three or four stylized Kanji characters within an oval) is impressed into the concave base near the foot rim. Very good condition. Some burnt on kiln residue on the foot goes to 'wabi'...

A simple, small but stout iron tsuba. The Myochin line of metal workers were armor makers who also produced tsuba. The simple decoration upper-right here could be a flower head or a snowflake. Udenuki-ana appear lower left. Good condition. Height 2 3/4 inches (69 cm), Width 2 9/16 inches (65 cm), and 6/32 of an inche (5 mm) thick.

A large Arita celadon and Blue & White porcelain dish, 18th century.

The attractive dish with a misty village and waterfall scene within a moulded celadon border. The back celadon glazed to the foot-rim which contains a six-character Chenghua mark and five neat spur marks.

Takeuchi Kimiaki (1948– 2011) was born in Tokoname and started learning wheel throwing when he was a middle school student. He met his mentor Ezaki Issei at the Tokoname Ceramic School when he was 16 years old...
