Very rare Ca. 1910 bronze zen temple dragon spout used in front of the temple entrance. Water from the dragon's mouth would run into a stone tsukubai where vistors to the temple would purify mouth and hands before entering the sacred space. Exceptional Japanese incense cabinet kodansu in wood covered with a profusion of mother-of-pearl flowers and bone leaves, engraved and inlaid with the shibayama technique. Bottom in nashi-ji lacquer.

Antique Japanese makie lacquer suzuri bako (writing box) and matching large stationary box signed with bold signatures on the bottom reading: 光琳　青々Kо̄rin Seisei, an artist name used by Ogata Kōrin (1658 – 1716).
