A Japanese porcelain tureen that is decorated with the various Imari colors and motifs. The brocade exterior design also features large flying cranes, scenes of ladies dancing, and the Chinese mark for longevity on the top to the lid.. The interior of the lid and bowl each show a lovely large basket full of persimmons. The serving bowl with lid measures about 6 1/2" high x 10 1/4" in diameter, and dates to the 19th Century. A set of plain candle sticks, called shokudai, used for hanging on a wall (like sconces). Each stick is made of bamboo. On top of the stick is a forged iron hook to hang it from a horizontal beam or slat on the wall, together with a candle pricket. On the bottom is an iron sheet dripping saucer with pricket. Mingei.

An antique Japanese Ikebana basket in an open flat design with fine smoked split bamboo weave. Handle formed in a three layer splayed connection with those weaves conjuring a five Cicada form on each end. Daruma standing tall, wrapped tightly in his garment, the tips of his feet just peeping out. This pose is associated with the episode in which Daruma travels to China, crossing the river Yangzi, while standing on a reed.
The figure was molded in a cast in two halves and joined before firing. A hole in the back functions as a vent and prevents the statue from exploding while fired in the kiln.

Mint Oni-Hagi masterpiece chawan by star potter Seigan Yamane. This extraordinary tea bowl is covered by wonderful different shades of white glaze and a few shades of purple on brown pottery.
