$650.00 Rare Japanese Celadon Tea Bowl, which was made by one of the greatest Japanese potters of the 20th century, Ryūzan Aoki (1926-2008). The seal of the potter is stamped on the bottom. The original wooden box with the signature of the potter & his profile are also included. Aoki Ryūzan was born in Arita as the eldest son of a porcelain merchant. In 1951, he graduated as a Nihonga-style painter from Tama Art College... Tokunyu was born as the eldest son of seventh-generation master Chonyu. He succeeded his father at the age of 18, but was prone to illness, and when his father died, he passed the mantle on to his younger brother later known as Ryonyu.
As he was sickly from a young age, he was a Raku master only for nine years and the number of his remaining works is the fewest among all Raku generations...

His ceramics were part of the wedding of the Japanese Emperor Akihito in 1959 and since then part of the imperial household. It comes with its originally signed and sealed wooden box without chips or cracks. Yano Keisen was a Japanese Asian Modern & Contemporary artist... Antique Japanese rectangular basket with lid. Made of tightly woven alternating wide and narrow strips of split bamboo. Round, bent bamboo handles on either end. Light color wrapped bamboo on edges.

The Choraku line began when a student of Kichizaemon XI (Keinyu) and Kichizaemon XII (Konyu) opened an independent kiln in Kyoto in 1904.
