Chinese Qing dynasty Tongzhi mark and period (1862-1874) cylindrical food container decorated around the circumference with four overglaze iron-red five-clawed dragons in profile above a band of underglaze blue waves. Each dragon is among underglaze blue clouds and separated from each other by a pair of vertical blue cloud bands shaped like opposing bats. A geometric blue band extends along the top. Each side has twisted metal handles supported by two animal mask lugs with gilt highlights...

Large Chinese Qing dynasty oval form lidded jar densely decorated on the front in underglaze blue on a faintly celadon tinted white ground with a phoenix bird among peonies. Three blue clouds are on the lid. The base and interior are glazed while the foot is unglazed. Late 19th century. 12 1/2" high. Very good overall condition. Impressive large standing wood sculpture of He Xiangu何仙姑- the only women in the pantheon of the Eight Chinese Immortals. This is at least Qing dynasty possibly earlier originally she would be holding a lotus in her hands. Once source describes her as being “the Patron Saint of Housewives”. Height: 97cm/38in and has a lovely benevolent expression. Condition as pictured, there is a dedication niche on back but the contents have been removed.

Small cabinet with drawers in precious wood. It opens with a sliding door revealing 3 drawers. The door is inlaid with silver threads depicting the Chinese character "Shou" meaning longevity, the other panels are inlaid with a simple silver thread. This small cabinet with a simple shape is made of very hard wood with a dense grain, almost black in color with red reflections. It is probably some kind of rosewood, perhaps red sandalwood, called zitan in China. The cabinet work is of good quality...

Chinese Qing / 19th Century Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Shou & Crabs

This porcelain dish was made during the 19th century and, according to the old paper label stuck to its reverse, was found in the Philippines. We are sure this is accurate as this type of dish is found around south-east Asia so was very likely made for export. The underglaze blue design features in its centre the "Shou" character (meaning longevity / long life), surrounded by three crabs, the crab representing prosperity ...

A Chinese reticulated iron porcelain snuff bottle with a dragon and phoenix among clouds beneath key fret and ryui border, neck with a silver rim, jade stopper. The red color is the same as used when decorating porcelain, though in this case it is applied as a solid color. The desired effect is to imitate red cinnabar lacquer. Circa, probably from the Jiaqing period (1796 - 1820). Height 3".
