Antique Chinese bronze incensor with pair of peaches as lid. The body is incised with a commemorative message: indebtedness by the students, the giver of gifts, spring in the year of the dragon, one of a pair. Peaches are very important in chinese culture, they symbolize life, immortality, and good fortune. It has a hanging arm with a bat charm. It measures 20" tall with hanging arm, base 4" wide. 19th century, 1821-1850.

Vintage chinese wood chair from the 1960s, the wood is carved to imitate bamboo. The back is carved with a design of bamboo leaves. It measures 38" tall, the seat measures 18" deep by 23" wide. 1 of a set of 4, available as a set or individually.

This is one of the most well painted Kangxi "flower basket" plates I've seen, in an excellent shade of Kangxi cobalt blue. Please compare with a similar "flower basket" plate in the British Museum (Franks.221).

This pair of cups belong to superior class of delicately enameled Yongzheng export wares. There's a bowl and saucer in the same pattern in the collection of King Augustus the Strong (see last photo).

This pair of wine cups are small but absolutely beautiful. The workmanship shows off the impeccable finesse with which Kangxi potters made their wares. The cobalt blue is true and vibrant, the painting bold, and the molded shape (two layers of lotus petals!) charming.

A large porcelain jar with original cover (and fitted wood stand) painted in Kangxi style in underglaze blue with flowering "prunus" branches. This item was made for export in the late 19th or early 20th Century, probably during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). A well modelled and painted glazed and "biscuit" figure of Budai made in China during the Republic period (1912-1949). On the base is the mark: Man Yi Sheng Zao - "Made by Man Yi Sheng". A fascinating letter composed by the noted Chinese artist, Xu Beihong (1895-1953). The letter is addressed to a Mr. Fu Wen and discusses about an exhibition and several works of art that Xu Beihong was expressing his congratulations to the person he was writing to. Letter signed by Xu Beihong. Age; 20th century. Size: Length 15.25" Height 12.25"

A rare well potted jar with fine porcelain body and very well painted, in under glaze blue, depicting two flying phoenix amongst scrolling foliage. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722) but this item was made later, in the 19th Century, probably circa 1800-1850 during the reign of either the Jiaqing or the Daoguang emperor. Condition - excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration...

A fascinating large wooden plaque known as qian. The qian is often seen in Daoist temples in the form of a collection of bamboo sticks placed in a bamboo cup and devotees will shake the cup to receive their fortune or oracle from the gods. The front of the panel contains an inscription stating this qian is of the formal troop of an army emanating their highest powers (or divine powers). the back of the piece also has an inscription which most of it is lost...

A late 18th or early 19th Century Famille Rose enamelled jar made in China, probably for export, during the reign of the Jiaqing emperor. For comparison (of enamels) we have pictured two export Lion Joss Stick Holders (usually dated either late Qianlong or Jiaqing, circa 1800) in our last enlargement.
