A timely and quirky soy brown glazed Korean War era chopstick holder with political slogans. The left hand column translates as “support your family and the Chinese military”, the right hand “oppose America, support Korea” and the top characters “increase productivity”. Possibly used in a factory canteen this is the only ceramic I have ever seen from this brief period...

Silk panel embroidered with colored threads and golden metallic ribbons, it seems to be gold because the metal is not oxidized. The tail of the phoenix is embroidered with dark gray metallic ribbons, certainly silver that has oxidized. A Five-Clawed Dragon surrounded by clouds and a Phoenix holding a flower in its beak, compete for the sacred pearl. At the bottom a rock is represented on which waves are breaking...

A pretty and delicate Chinese Porcelain Dish decorated with butterflies and gourd vines in polychrome enamels upon a striking turquoise background, Republic Period, very good condition, size: H. 2cm x 14cm diameter

Made from ox horn, and shaped into a perfectly balanced shoehorn, this antique Chinese folk art artifact serves in both form and function. There is a delicately carved design on the back. The handle part of the horn has eyes carved so that the piece takes the shape of an animal and there is a hole carved so that the shoehorn can be hung from a cord. I vaguely remember hearing that the Chinese inventing the shoehorn, but have not been able to verify this as historic fact.

A blue-grey glazed pottery form of a large-eyed turtle. The turtle shell has relief patterns over which a glaze was applied.

Period: Song (10th - 13th Century, China)

Size: Length = 5.5 cm from head to tail. Height = 3.8 cm

Condition: Very good. No breaks. Natural crackle in the glaze from age.

A small blue and white Chinese stem dish, 19th century. In excellent condition, thick unctuous glaze and nice form. This would make a nice ring or jewelry dish! It measures 4" across by 2" high.

Cobalt blue MING bowl with nice dragon. Under glazed mark, rim on base, foot and around inner medallion. Double rims on top inside and outside. 3 chips and hairlines, no cracks nor restorations. Size: 2.75" (7 cm.) x 6" (15.5 cm.) diameter

This pair of Chinese lotus shoes were made by a woman of limited finances. She bought what materials were needed for the vamp and supplemented with the use of rough home spun fabric scraps to cover the shaped heals and soles. The limited amount of expensive gold couching threads outlining the floral embroidery pattern on each side of the shoes indicates that this pair of lotus shoes would have used only for special occasions...

LIAO Dynasty Terracotta Buddhist Votive Plaque/Amulet, China, AD. 907-1125, with very fine details. Nicely mounted on wooden base. Originates from a group of varied tablets sizes that were excavated, most likely from the foundations of an ancient Buddhist temple, placed there to ensure success and prosperity. Condition: good, inconsequential hairline/chip, no restorations. Size: 2.75" (7 cm.)

Chinese blue and white porcelain Incense Burner or censer, made in later part of 1800's to early 1900's' 3 3/8" high, 7 1/4" diameter, various style of bands in underglaze blue, unglazed area inside half way down to the bottom. Black ink writings on the bottom under the thick white glaze round dot, about 3/4" wide. No damage or restoration.

The groups of Yao minority live in in both China and Thailand. This necklace is of low grade silver which was typical of the Chinese jewelry around the late 1800's and early 1900's. The necklace is light weight and comfortable to wear.
