Fine Chinese 9th - 10th Century Stoneware Ewer

This fine and rare stoneware ewer was made during the 9th to 10th century (from the end of the Tang Dynasty AD 608 - 916, the Five Dynasties period AD 907 - 960, to the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1127), most likely a product of one of the Guangdong kilns. Both inner and outer surfaces are coated in a very finely-crackled olive-green glaze...

Charming Chinese ink rubbing of a stone stele depicting a fat cat surrounded by rockery with holes and chrysanthemum flowers after a painting by Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732) that was based upon an earlier work by Ming artist Lu Ji (1477-1505). Jiang’s seal bears the artist’s pseudonym “Nansha.” Likely dates late Qing to Republic period (late 19th to early 20th century). Paper: 24 3/4" x 13 3/4 (image: 21 3/8" x 11 1/4"). Lovely pair of small Chinese ginger jars measuring only 5.5 inches high including finial and 3.5" in diameter.
