A great large "sang de boeuf" (Oxblood) bottle vase. The glaze is somewhat crackled with a pattern of fine crackles. Green spots in the glaze can be seen from the coppar. It's sparsely but elegantly decorated in restrained Chinese taste, using only leafy vines set against the open field, and bordered with a rich and still quite vibrant inky blue / navy blue outer border...

From our Chinese Monochrome Collection, a fine carved jade image of Guanyin, late 19th- early 20th century, depicting the deity with a wonderful serene expression in a variation of Royal Ease mudra while sitting upon a rockwork base, and cradling a ruyi sceptre in her right arm. The jade is of pale olive tone with russet colored highlights and is rather substantial in heft, weighing almost 1.4 pounds.

Up for sale is an antique Chinese Qing dynasty embroidered dragon silk robe, Jifu, with nine 5-clawed dragons executed in couched gold wrapped threads; clouds, Buddhist & Taoist auspicious symbols, bats, sea waves, and standing water ( Lishui) are executed in brick stitch.Overall is in excellent condition, no frays across shoulders' folding lines. Measurements : 54" from collar to bottom, 27" between arm pits, 85" across shoulders when stretched open, bottom width 42"

This is a two colour wufu and coin motif peking glass snuff bottle. The colour of the bat is in light brown colour and the coin is green colour. Wufu means the five fortune. The chinese coin in general means "Tong Bao" or treasure. On both side of the coin, it is inscribed with the character "Tian Xia Tai Ping" which means peace to the world. Cir. late 19th century.

DESCRIPTION: A significant Chinese sculpture featuring a Scholar with his boy attendant, carved from a large slab of burl hardwood. The undulations and knobs of the slightly curving burl slab have been beautifully incorporated into the carving, forming the scholar’s garment and top of his curled hat. The bearded scholar looks slightly upward with a pleasing expression and holds a scroll in his hands. At his side is his young attendant gazing upward with a charming smile...

This rare group dates from the early Tang Dynasty. It's made of grey pottery and it has traces of painting ( see the back of the cart ). An ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty (618-907) tea bowl, dating to around 850-900 AD and excavated in the Luoyang area.

A spending antique Chinese Kwan Yin sculpture made in the late Ming Dynasty. Kwan Yin or Guanyin and Avalokiteshvara is the Bodhisattva of compassion. Here she stands samabhanga on a simple base with robes flowing and clinging naturally over and to her long, slender body. Her feet peek from beneath her robes.

Her hands are held with her thumb and middle finger touching in the vitarka mudra of teaching. Her hair is piled high on her head. Her gaze serene and slightly downcast.
